Protecting Organizers from Copyright Infringement
Copyright infringement is a growing problem for seminar and conference organizers.
With companies such as Getty Images seeking damages of up to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for infringing the copyright of just one of their images, it makes sense to protect yourself against copyright infringement.
The Copyright problem exists for organizers because presentations delivered by your Presenters at conferences and seminars may contain 3rd party copyrighted content such as images, diagrams, logos or even music or video footage. If these presentations are then distirbuted, this leads to copyright infringement problems for the Event Organizer.
There is a second copyright problem. Even if the presentation does not infringe 3rd party copyright, the Presenter or their Employer owns the Presentation Copyright (Copyright Owner).
If the Event Organizer distributes a presentation without WRITTEN PERMISSION from the Copyright Owner, then this causes a copyright infringement problem.
Digital publishing such as emailing, podcasting and webcasting make it easier to distribute and sell presentations but copying and publishing presentations without the Copyright Owners permission is illegal under worldwide copyright legislation.
If the right safeguards are not in place, Conference and Seminar Organizers run the risk of infringing Copyright and incurring penalties and possible loss of reputation.
The solution is simple. Protect yourself from Copyright Infringement problems by having a SeminarBank.com Presenter Agreement in place.
